Dear Readers,

At first glance, Tarek El Moussa and Jaime Kosofsky may not appear to
have much in common.
One is the star of the HGTV hit TV series “Flip or Flop;” the other is the cofounder/partner of Brady & Kosofsky real estate law firm in North Carolina.

But the two men share a knack for overcoming adversity and for
encouraging others to follow their dreams.

October Research was lucky enough to have each of them share their stories
recently at the 16th annual (and first virtual) National Settlement Services
Summit (NS3).

NS3 attendees who attended the Networking Reception, sponsored by SoftPro,
were treated to a special interview and Q&A session with El Moussa.
The self-made HGTV star’s enthusiasm was contagious as he walked us
through how he was able to go from a 21-year-old real estate agent to a
major player in both the real estate and television industries.

Although not discussed at NS3, it is well known that El Moussa, a two-time
cancer survivor, is also the living embodiment of the show must go on —
undergoing procedures for thyroid and testicular cancer in 2013. He has
also overcome severe back injuries and navigated his public divorce with
his co-star, Christina Anstead, with class.
Kosofsky is just as inspirational.

At his NS3 session, “It will never happen to me,” he relayed how his
business has thrived despite suffering through a huge fire, tornado,
earthquake and the COVID-19 pandemic — in less than a year. Luckily, his
company’s disaster recovery plan — and a good sense of humor — saved
the day.

Check for Kosofsky’s story in next month’s issue.
Meanwhile, I hope you all enjoyed our conference and maybe next year we
can meet again in person.

Sincerely,
