| Name: | Andrew Rennell |
| Age: | 29 |
| Title: | President |
| Organization: | InWare, LLC |
Andrew Rennell’s roots are in the title insurance industry, having started with Resource Title in Independence, Ohio, as director of marketing and sales. He co-founded InWare to provide post-transaction marketability to Realtors, lenders, and settlement services businesses, increasing brand awareness, while streamlining processes into everyday efficiencies. His proprietary software, InTitle, reduced the hard costs associated with closings and created market value for not only that agency, but also the Realtors and lenders working with that agency. Resource Title said it saves about $40,000 after implementing the first version of InTitle about four years ago. Although there aren’t any statistics yet for the following years, the company estimated the software saved about $90,000 last year.
What was your first job in the settlement services industry? Growing up in the settlement services industry, I had the opportunity to learn the fundamentals from the ground up. My first job was doing data entry and preparing tax and legals for customers. When I wasn't typing away, I worked in the storage room, and was responsible for filing all closed files.
What challenge really jazzes you? As a new company, we are faced with so many challenges, that we really take each one as an opportunity to further sustain credibility in the market. I think that once you can pinpoint any specific challenges, you lose focus of what the bigger pictures may be. What might not be challenging to us, might be for our customers, which is why we view each and every challenge as an opportunity to build confidence and sustain momentum. So, our big picture challenge that really jazzes me is the opportunity to take a new company, create our market, address our customers’ needs and requirements, and successfully continue to roll out our solutions on a national level. So many great applications are hitting the market now, so it's always a challenge to make your voice heard amongst all of the clutter. We do that with personal service, and being able to identify with our customer base. What is the best advice you could give? Don't be afraid to break away from the mold and try new things. In the settlement services industry, the end product is like a cheeseburger. You can pretty much get the same cheeseburger wherever you go....,so what's going to make you stand out? Just because that's the way you have always done something doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be improved upon. There are so many exciting opportunities entering into the playing field, and I would really encourage people to start taking a hard look at some of the offerings. The way that business is done now is completely different then how it was done just five -10 years ago. You have to be willing to accept change in order to maintain any sort of competitive leverage. What is your proudest professional accomplishment? My proudest professional accomplishment was in having the courage to start a company, and take a risk. So many people have great ideas, and never have the opportunity to take them to market. Having confidence in what our solutions could do, I'm proud that I won't have any regrets when all is said and done. Sink or swim, I've gained so much professional experience, that regardless of where our company goes, I'm confident that I will come out of this ahead of the curve. Who has been a significant mentor in your life? Collectively, my parents. I learned at an early age some of the fundamentals on life. It isn't always fair; the ball doesn't always bounce your way, and every other cliché you can think of. But the bottom line is that life is what YOU make of it. They taught me not to dwell on the past, don't look to the future, and to live in the now. More importantly, they provided me with solid morals, which have helped me to shape the way that I do business and manage my life. If not for the opportunities that they have given me over the years, there is no way that I would be nearly the person that I am today. If you could have lunch with any person living or historical, who would it be and why? My wife....simply because it's too easy to forget that the best things in life might just be the things that are right in front of you. Return to Top View Winners:
