| Name: | Tad Buck |
| Age: | 39 |
| Title: | Director of Business Development |
| Organization: | Stewart Transaction Solutions |
Tad Buck began his career at General American Corporation as a sales representative selling settlement services. He left and after a year came back to work within a new business unit, GATORSystems. The technology was sound, but GAC needed someone to spread the word about the product and make it a successful business venture.
Tad had a unique ability to take highly technical processes and relate that into the business processes that title and settlement company owners could understand, said nominator Chris Behning, SVP with Lenders First Choice and previous employee of GAC. His sense of humor also helped ease nervous customers into feeling comfortable. “Within a few short years, Tad successfully negotiated several large licensing contracts,” he said. “Before we knew it, GATORS had grown to a multimillion dollar business for GAC. Through his efforts, GATORS became what we believe was the industry standard in settlement service technology. I believe Tad’s drive, commitment, and belief in the product made him successful. Over the course of his career at GAC / Fiserv, he rose to Vice President of Sales and consistently met or exceeded his sales goals each and every year,” said Behning. “I believe what makes Tad an outstanding individual is not only his business accomplishments but also the accomplishments and generosity in his personal life.” Tad is very dedicated to his family, and devotes much of his time giving tennis lessons at his daughters’ junior high school and playing his guitar with his band for fund raising events. He has taken his talents and shares them for the benefit of others. What was your first job in the settlement services industry? It was as Regional Manager-Florida, General American Corporation which is now Fiserv Lending Solutions. What about your job gives you the most satisfaction? I like to see companies adopt a technology, commit to it and watch them flourish in the marketplace.
What challenge really jazzes you? Getting someone or a group to trust technology to take them to the next level. What is the best advice you could give? Treat everyone the way you would like to be treated. What is your proudest professional accomplishment? My proudest accomplishment is probably being promoted to vice president after taking a great technology concept and growing it into a multi–million dollar software company. Who has been a significant mentor in your life? There are two, of mention, in the settlement industry. The first is Joe Casa, who I had the privilege of working with in the late 90’s and Chris Behning who fueled my success with his overall technology knowledge in recent years. To what do you attribute your success? A true passion for what you are doing in all aspects of life. What are you listening to right now on your iPod/CD player/Radio? “Message in a Bottle” by the Police, and I am anticipating an upcoming tour for folks in their late 30’s. What do you do to relax? I like taking a long bike ride or visiting with good friends while enjoying a great California cabernet. What’s the most fulfilling thing you have been involved in within your community and why? Three years ago I started a band with neighborhood dads. We now play about seven times a year around Raleigh, N.C., with all proceeds going to local and national causes like Breast Cancer Research, The Kidney Foundation, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and The Alliance Medical Ministry.
